Removal and installation of a camshaft. Engine M52
Work on the removal and installation of a camshaft requires the use of special tools. It is recommended to carry out in specialized garages BMW company. It describes the removal of the camshaft on the cylinder head removed. This operation can be performed on the fixed cylinder. It is necessary to carry out preliminary work for the removal and installation of the cylinder head.
Measure the camshafts. The value of the axial and radial backlashes should correspond presented in Specifications.
1. Remove the cylinder head.
2. Remove the hairpin. See the accompanying illustration.
3. For removal of camshafts adaptation BMW 113260. require adaptation keeps bearings of camshafts in working position when removing the liners. Removal of both camshafts is done the same way. The sequence does not matter. See the accompanying illustration.
4. Remove the spark plugs.
5. Fit and fasten it to the threaded holes of the spark plugs of cylinders 1 and 4 to 25 Nm.
6. Turn the eccentric shaft device fix the bearing caps. See the accompanying illustration.
7. Remove all the bolts of covers of bearings.
Note: the first bearing cover intake camshaft is centered mounting sleeve. To eliminate distortion camshaft turn away bolts of fastening of the first cover and remove it. See the accompanying illustration.
8. Remove the device.
9. Remove the bearing caps and camshaft. Place the lid in order. During assembly they must be installed in the same position. Camshaft bearing caps of exhaust valves are marked with A1 A7, the intake valves E1 for E7. See the accompanying illustration.
10. If necessary, for example if the valve must be removed, remove the bar bearing assembly (2) with pushers. Keep an eye on centering sleeves (3). Trims in point (4) are marked “A” for exhaust valves and marked “E” for the intake valves. See the accompanying illustration.
Note: Push fall out of the bearing plate. To fix pushers HUNDRED uses suction cups, which are installed on top of the pushers and thus prevent their loss. Mark pushers. They must be installed in its place.
Warning: can not be removed valve lifters to put on the head of more than 10 minutes. Otherwise tappets of oil starts to flow, resulting in a failure of the automatic valve clearance compensation.
Note: If the camshaft is removed, it is necessary to bear in mind the following. Without load hydropushers stretched and after installation takes some time to compress them. Consequently, the valves for some time can be opened in a position corresponding to the cam and does not abut against the piston. Therefore it is necessary to withstand the next time between the installation of a camshaft and cylinder head: at + 20 ° C (room temperature) – 4 minutes at a temperature of + 10 ° C – 11 min. After installation of the cylinder head must wait for another 30 minutes. Thereafter, engine can be started.
If camshaft filmed on the set cylinder head, turn the crankshaft by about 30 ° in direction of engine rotation by the TDC. In the TDC will neither one piston and valves are not rest on them. Install camshafts and check the distribution points. Only then rotate the crankshaft at TDC ago and put on a chain.
1. Check the tappets for wear (scoring), replace with new ones if necessary.
2. Oil the camshaft bearings and shafts are set so that cam tips of inlet and exhaust valves of the first cylinder showed against each other. See the accompanying illustration.
3. Set the bar with bearings inserted pushers in the cylinder head. Do not forget the centering sleeve (3).
4. Insert the bearing shells in accordance with the markings. They should be installed in its place.
5. Fit and clamp inserts.
6. Inserts tighten to 15 Nm.
7. Lift the device and remove it. Replace the spark plug.
8. Install the cylinder head.
