Removing and installing timing chain covers the engine BMW M60
left cover
1. Remove left cylinder head cover (see. The cylinder head cover. The engine is the M60 / 1 and the M60 / 2).

3. Disconnect the EVAP valve on the top left of the timing chain cover.

6. Install in the reverse order. Note the position of the centering sleeves, use new gaskets. When fixing the timing chain cover First tighten by hand, horizontal, screws, then tighten with demanded effort and two vertical approach, and only then finally tighten.
right cover
1. Remove right cylinder head cover.
2. Remove the plunger chain tensioner and, if necessary, additional air supply pipe.
3. Remove the CKP sensor and remove the top bolt of fastening directing motor oil level dipstick.

1. Remove the engine
2. Remove both cylinder heads
3. Remove water pump with thermostat housing
4. Remove the top section of the pallet crankcase
5. Remove the vibration damper hub
6. Turn out bolts and remove the timing chain.

7. Clean the sealing surface of the cylinder from dirt and oil.
8. Install in the reverse order. Note the position of the centering sleeves, use new gaskets. When fixing the timing chain cover, first tighten the bolts by hand, and Tatem – with the required force in a staggered manner. Finally, cut the protruding ends of the metal gasket and replace the front oil seal crankshaft.
